Not just a “cool” visual:
LinkedIn recently released a new tool to help you understand and visualize your network – it is called InMaps. Unfortunately most of the sentiment we found on the web is that people just think it is “cool”, “pretty”, or in many cases, “useless”…
Freesource sees this very differently; we believe InMaps represent one of the most powerful new analytical business tools available on the market.
For Business:
Individual professionals and corporations can use InMaps to make smart business decisions to help them achieve their strategic business objectives. Here is how:
First, your map should NOT have lots of overly-dense, hyper-connected clusters, with little to no distance between color clouds… like in the image above which represents a typical InMap of a LinkedIn Open Networker (aka LION)....

This quick post is to serve two functions:
First a BIG thank you to Mark Schaefer and the Vieo Design team for their ability to turn this around on-time and under budget.
Second, we wanted to give you some insight into the process and logistics – the whole thing took only two weeks!
We customized a free WordPress template called “Carbonized” and repurposed copy and content we had already developed.
One of the best parts is that Freesource now has complete control of the site to add widgets and update content. Look for lots of incremental upgrades over the next few months!
Even though we live and breathe this in this new era of speedy free technologies, we are still amazed we pulled this off for a fraction of what it would have cost just 2-3 years ago.
Take a tour – Let us know what you...

The expression “the lowest hanging fruit” is something we use pretty often around Freesource.
The idea is simple: focus on the social media activity (singular) that will produce the highest ROI in the shortest amount of time.

So there is the question: Where is the lowest hanging fruit for your organization?
The answer will of course vary, but for most businesses and most of our clients – (even ones that classify themselves as B2C) it’s usually your direct sales team. Front line sales is where most of your new revenue comes from right?
So we like to connect sales managers with their buyers and target markets online...

Mashable’s recent post HOW TO: Optimize your LinkedIn profile is so far off someone had so speak up, so here we go…
First, it’s not about getting your profile to 100% completeness.
Mashable’s first step in optimizing your LinkedIn profile: “fill in as much information about your work experience as possible. It’s your online resume; pay as much attention to it as you would your cover letter or paper resume.” This is wrong, your LinkedIn profile is your professional brand online, and not all of LinkedIn’s 86+ Million members want a career change.
Your profile is complete when it aligns 100% with your objectives, not when a bar on your profile says so. That’s LinkedIn profile optimization 101.
I’ll elaborate… if your objective is differentiation (standing out), job seeking...
