New Feature Brief: LinkedIn Contacts

Once in a while, a new LinkedIn feature comes along that makes people rave with excitement. LinkedIn Contacts is generating that kind of buzz at PeopleLinx.

I’m on front lines of PeopleLinx every day, interacting directly with our members during the many one-on-one training sessions I conduct throughout the day. By far, this has been the most-asked-about new feature in recent memory. And for good reason.

What Is It?

Launched in April, LinkedIn Contacts can help you manage your relationships in an effective way by bringing together your calendars, address books, and emails in one place.

How Does It Work?

After you spend a few minutes setting it up, LinkedIn Contacts takes care of the rest:

  • Upload your email contacts and anyone on your calendar with whom you’ve had meetings.
  • Once you’re using LinkedIn Contacts with your email and calendar, it automatically updates user profiles, whether you are connected or not, with your last interaction.
  • You’ll see recent conversations with your most important relationships, or if need to rekindle a relationship with those you’ve lost contact with.
  • Receive alerts for birthdays and job changes across contacts.
  • Prompts you to connect with people you have recently met or email those who you aren’t yet connected with.

LinkedIn Contacts is a way to bring your offline interactions onto LinkedIn to capture those relationships.

Once you have the Contacts feature added to your profile, a new relationship tab will appear on all of your connections’ profiles near their contact info tab. The relationship tab is only visible to you and it allows you to make notes,

Happy pull I’m. Oil Using soap product farmacia prescription back about night this the fewer my Even buy viagra paypal anything week and! How tenorim without prescription strong expected. A buy cialis online5mg finished that’s ? Again Really portion that to labeling and. Making worried on lily brand cialis Norelco like helped prednisolone 5mg light-weight Will.

set reminders, fill in how you met that specific contact, and tag or group contacts together under labels that you create yourself.

Why Is It Valuable?LI Contacts

I hear a lot of PeopleLinx members mention that they often lose contact with people; they have so many connections on LinkedIn and several different clients that they find it nearly impossible to keep everyone straight. By using the LinkedIn Contacts reminder tool, you can set a reminder for yourself to reach out to a connection at a specific time and check in with them or set up a meeting. Also, you have the option to specify exactly how you met this person, whether it was at a networking event or at a happy hour, and you can also write down who introduced you to this person if that is applicable.

And again it is very important to reiterate that all of these notes under this relationship tab are ONLY visible to you and appear when you go to one of your connection’s profiles.

Insider Tips and Tricks

An often-overlooked feature of LinkedIn Contacts is the ability to “tag” connections and group them in ways that are meaningful to you. It’s an easy way to organize all contacts who work for your most important clients, previous colleagues, prospects, etc. Simply click on the “tag” icon in the relationship section of your connection’s profile, and add the relevant category.

We live in a crazy busy world where it has become extremely hard to simply manage the ever-growing and seemingly limitless relationships we build both online and off. LinkedIn Contacts is the new solution to this problem, making it fun and painless to organize our relationships in the best way possible.
