However, as a marketer, I’m particularly excited about today’s entry because we’re introducing our new Chief Marketing Officer, Michael Idinopulos. Michael is a social business pioneer who brings a decade of leadership and execution to the PeopleLinx team. He served as global director of knowledge technology for McKinsey & Company where he led some of the earliest enterprise deployments of blogs, wikis, expertise search and social networking. Most recently, he served as general manager and chief customer officer of Socialtext, an early leader in enterprise collaboration software, where he oversaw hundreds of successful deployments of the company’s solution.

He’s also a prolific public speaker and recently gave a memorable TEDx talk. Check out the video at the end of this blog…I promise it will be the 17 most insightful minutes you’ll spend today.

As PeopleLinx’s CMO, he’ll oversee the delivery of our professional services to customers and will drive our thought leadership initiatives.

I had a chance to speak with Michael about joining the PeopleLinx team.

Q&A with Michael Idinopulos

Why did you join the PeopleLinx team?

I’m happiest working with smart people on big ideas that might just possibly change the world. PeopleLinx meets all those requirements in spades. It also doesn’t hurt that I can walk to work.

Why is social business important?

Sales and marketing are on the verge of a seismic shift. Traditionally, marketing has messaged to the prospect database. Social is changing that dynamic in a big way. Employees now message directly to the customers and prospects in their networks, and those messages carry more weight because they’re personal. PeopleLinx has cracked the code on how to harness employee’s relationships to further a company’s sales and marketing mission.

What do you hope to accomplish at PeopleLinx?

The same thing I hope to accomplish at every job: change the world. In this case, that means empowering PeopleLinx customers to succeed in the new realities of social sales and marketing. While we’re at it, we’ll build an amazing company.

When you’re not at work, what do you do for fun?

I play tennis (pretty well), I play piano (very badly), I read a ton, and I chase after my wife and three kids.
